🏚️Hogwarts Visit the Southwell Workhouse

Hogwarts class visited Southwell Workhouse to provide a memorable experience to start their topic to explore “What was it like as a child in Victorian times.” The children explored the harsh realities faced by children living in poverty during Victorian times. They learned how the workhouse was run and discovered the strict routines that governed daily life.

They found out that meals were very simple, often consisting of gruel and bread, while the days were long and demanding, and the nights cold. Discipline was strict, and life for those in the workhouse was extremely challenging.

The children explored the building, examined the clothing worn by its residents, and developed a deeper understanding of the difficult lives led by orphans and paupers. It was a fascinating and thought-provoking experience for all.
