🖊️No Pens Day!🖊️

🖊️No Pens Day!🖊️

This week we had a No Pens Day Wednesday. The purpose of No Pens Day is to raise awareness of the importance of speech and language and that 1.9 million children struggle with talking and understanding words. It is a day where children can participate in activities that emphasis talking, listening and interacting with their classmates and teachers.

In Enchanted Forest, the children enjoyed the visits from their special visitors. They used paint to write numbers and CVC words and used practical resources to so numbers into 10 and not 10.

The children in Neverland used the iPad to help them create pieces of artwork in the style of Mondrian using an app. They discussed whether it was easier to paint or draw with a pencil and paint brush or using the iPad. In maths, the children were challenged with sorting 3D shapes into different groups based on their properties.

Hogwarts carried out a spelling bee competition where children recalled spelling without being able to write them down. They had a practical maths day; children were given maths problems to solve and prove their answers were correct using maths equipment and sentence stems to explain their understanding. In English they had dramatic readings of their favourite composition. In the afternoon Hogwarts practised their sewing skills to create an emblem.
