🐇Visit to Greenfields Animal Care Unit🦙

Miss Cook and Mrs Binney accompanied a group of children on a special visit to Greenfields Academy’s Animal Department in Grantham. Greenfields Academy is a specialist school for pupils aged 5–16 with complex SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and is part of CIT Academies.

The Farm Unit is home to a variety of animals, including alpacas, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens. During the visit, the children had the opportunity to handle, feed, walk and groom the animals. They also learned about the animals’ care routines and individual personalities from the school’s Animal Care Lead, supported by Year 11 pupils who are currently studying Level 1 Animal Care.

It was a valuable and enjoyable experience for all involved, giving the children hands-on learning opportunities in a calm and nurturing environment. I think alpacas may be appearing on a few Christmas lists for Santa!
